FP1 Filtration Press

The Precision FP1 Filter Press is the ideal device for post-winterization filtration of miscella or crude, as well as fines filtration. Due to its direct process connection, the filter press can run continuously until its high solids capacity of 1-2 cubic feet is reached, while the five 2-3 micron filter plates the press is equipped with ensure the removal of solids is at its peak. Furthermore, the FP1 is expandable to 2 cubic feet and, with space to accommodate up to five more filter plates, can easily scale with any system.

The strength of the all-manual function of the filter press is that it can be used in a C1D1 facility without the need for expensive explosion-proof components. Coming equipped with EPDM gaskets and food-grade stainless steel wetted parts on the manifold and pump, and the device requires very little air to operate.

For its efficiency, simplicity, and versatility, the FP1 is the obvious choice as Precision’s go-to filtration solution.

How it works: The filter press is closed by the manually-operated hydraulic system, allowing the stream of miscella or crude to be pushed through the filter press via a pneumatic diaphragm pump. Solids such as fats, lipids, wax, and precoats are captured in the filter plates, forming “cakes” out of the unnecessary biomass. Meanwhile, the refined product is circulated back into the plumbing, where it can then be collected from the butterfly valve located at the base of the pipes. Afterward, the hydraulic cylinder is opened by the automatic spring return, and a compressed air line “blows down” the dried cakes into a holding vessel underneath the press. The spatula from the included scraper kit can then be used to remove any remaining solids from the plates. Once clear, the filter press is ready for another cycle.
